Marcus Hooks was born and raised In Norwalk, CT. He played tennis at the Brien McMahon High School for four years and was a varsity player for all of those four years. For two of those four years, Marcus was the varsity tennis team captain. After graduating Marcus was recruited with a group of other freshmen by Bethany College in West Virginia to rebuild their tennis program. While at Bethany College he was named captain and led the team to a 10-3 record, the best record the school has seen in 43 years. Marcus transferred to Albertus Magnus College and helped the team make the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
Marcus has taught at Slammer Tennis World, Stamford Parks, and Rec and was the Head Pro at Stamford Youth Tennis Academy and Darien Kings Hwy. Marcus is also co-founder/president/tennis director of a Community Tennis Association called "Six Love Tennis". Marcus is a PTR certified professional in 10 & Under Tennis and is a 10 & Under Progression Tournament Director. Marcus sits on the USTA Connecticut Board and was chosen to represent New England on the USTA National Diversity Immersion for Volunteer Engagement cohort.
